FAQs

What does our first session look like?

During our initial meeting, our focus will be on understanding your current circumstances and assessing your unique needs. While my areas of expertise may align with the reasons you have sought therapy, it is crucial to address the specific areas that are relevant to you and your current situation. This will enable us to determine the most suitable approach and determine what therapy will involve, as well as how it will fit into your day-to-day life.

In addition to our sessions, I may suggest certain actions for you to engage in outside of therapy. This might involve practicing specific techniques or reading recommended books. It is important for you to take an active role in your healing journey, and these supplementary activities can greatly enhance the progress and outcomes of therapy.

I am here to support you every step of the way, and together we will tailor a therapeutic plan that best meets your needs. Your engagement and commitment, along with my guidance, will empower you to actively participate in your healing process and achieve positive transformations.

What is confidentiality?

Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of therapy, and it is important to emphasize that all sessions are treated with the utmost confidentiality. As a therapist, I adhere to legal protection rules that require me to keep all information shared during our sessions strictly confidential, unless you explicitly request otherwise. This means that your personal information and discussions will remain private and will not be disclosed without your prior written consent.

However, it is crucial to note that there are exceptions to this rule, as mandated by law, in order to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals involved. These exceptions include situations where the therapist suspects or becomes aware of abuse towards a child, dependent adult, or elder, as well as instances of domestic abuse. In such cases, the therapist is obligated to immediately notify the appropriate authorities to protect those who may be at risk.

Furthermore, if the therapist has reason to believe that an individual poses a severe threat of bodily harm to someone else, they are required to report this information to the police, ensuring the safety of potential victims.

Lastly, if an individual expresses intentions to harm themselves, such as discussing plans for suicide, the therapist will make every effort to address this within the therapy session. However, if it is deemed that the situation remains unresolved or the client does not cooperate, additional measures may be necessary to ensure the client's safety.

Your well-being and trust are of paramount importance to me, and I am committed to maintaining a safe and confidential environment throughout our therapeutic journey together.
